JALTA’s main activity, the Teacher Training Seminar, was held again this year with the support of the Japan Foundation Toronto Japanese Language Support Grant for Children. This activity occurred online on March 29, 2025. Despite it being held during spring break, 16 people applied and 15 people participated, which reflects the high level of interest. The lecturer was Ms.Mari Miyamoto, a Japanese teacher at Sentinel Secondary School and West Vancouver Secondary School. The lecture included a wide range of content, including an explanation of the Japanese language courses at BC public high schools, the Challenge Test, IB Japanese, and AP Japanese.

Many people asked questions in the pre-questionnaire, and Ms. Miyamoto answered them in great detail during the Q&A session. We were pleased to receive positive feedback from participants who shared that they found the session very informative. As a Japanese language school teacher myself, this seminar allowed me to better understand the importance of articulation across various levels and educational institutions.

今年は国際交流基金トロント日本文化センターのJFTこども日本語支援助成を受け、JALTAの主要な活動である教師研修会が今年も２０２５年３月２９日にZoomを使って行われました。春休み中にもかかわらず１６名が申し込み、１５名参加と皆さんの興味の高さが表れていたと思います。講師にはSentinel Secondary School、West Vancouver SecondarySchool 日本語教師をされている宮本麻里をお招きいたしました。講義内容は、BC州公立高校の日本語コースの説明、チャレンジテスト、IB日本語、AP日本語と盛りだくさんの内容でした。事前アンケートでもたくさんの方からご質問を寄せられ、それに対して質疑応答の時間には宮本先生から大変くわしくご回答いただき、参加者から大変貴重な情報を学ぶことができたという嬉しいフィードバックをいただきました。日本語学校の教師としては学習者が高校でどのようなことを学んでいるのか、さらに各教育機関同士でのつながりが再認識された素晴らしい研修会となりました。
