JALTA (Japan Language Teachers Association) was established in 1974 with members consisting of Japanese language school teachers and volunteers with an interest in Japanese language education based in British Columbia, Canada.

Under the guidance of Professor Matsuo Soga of UBC as a special advisor, the organization has been active as a volunteer organization, with representatives from each school serving as officers and aiming to promote Japanese language education.

After five decades, JALTA has solidified its position as the predominant organization when it comes to Japanese language schools in British Columbia. Currently, it is led by Tomoko Bailey, guided by the invaluable insights of one of our founding members, Yoko Murakami.

JALTA（日本語教育振興会）は、1974年カナダのブリティッシュコロンビア州にて、日本語学校の教師と日本語教育に関心を持つボランティアによって設立されました。

ブリティッシュコロンビア大学（UBC）の曽我松雄教授を特別顧問としてご指導いただき、各日本語学校の代表者が役員を務め、日本語教育の推進を目標にボランティア団体として活動してきました。

50年を経て、JALTAはブリティッシュコロンビア州における日本語学校代表団体としの存在を揺るぎないものとしました。現在は、創設メンバーの一人である村上陽子先生の貴重な識見に基づき、ベイリー智子先生が会長を務めています。
